------- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sat Mar 18 11:40:42 -0800 2006 ------- I am using Mac OS X Tiger with recompiled version of freetype library which has the bytecode interpreter enabled. I also use Microsoft hinted fonts such as Times New Roman and Arial. Smoothing those fonts makes them fuzzy and undreadable, however, if smoothing is turned off the fonts are VERY clear and crisp. Although my X11 programs such as gedit (gnome editor) look perfect with hinting enabled and antialiasing disabled, OpenOffice doesn't turn off screen font antialiasing when I check OFF the checkbox in Tools -> Options -> View "Screen font antialiasing". Whether the checkbox is on or off OpenOffice smoothes the fonts anyway which makes them look fuzzy and unreadable. I remember that option did work in Linux, however, Max OSX build seems to ignore this option completely. I also tried to download version 1.1.2 of OpenOffice, it has exactly the same problem.
