------- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Thu Mar 23 14:29:20 -0800 2006 ------- After I submitted the issue, I uninstalled libfreetype.so.6.3.8 (freetype-2.1.10) and reinstalled freetype-2.1.9. I have has writer and calc open for a while and looked at 3 documents, played with fonts, and done other things that would cause a crash before. Now the only problem is that some of the menu icons don't display correctly. For example, when I focus on a math formula many of the menu bar icons are replaced with squares of a turquoise color. When I refocus on the document body, most of the icons are restored. However, it hasn't crashed and it is an improved program. Perhaps my replacing of the freetype solved the problem. Actually, I looked more closely at the Slackware freetype-2.1.9 package and install script and I now think I did not have the 2.1.10 version installed correctly, even though other programs seemed to work fine.
