This is because automatic formattings don't use the corresponding format but
only it's attributes (hard formatted).
If you really *apply* a character style from the Stylist, the Stylist will
always show the current style.
Rewriting issue as following enhancement: "Character styles should be
automatically used when the corresponding elements are created".
