Are you serious?

The missing timeout is a clear bug - it does not only block opening the
"problematic" document, but also blocks _all_ other open OpenOffice document
windows.

If users get impatient after some time (say: 10 minutes for a small 100k
document - I would get _really_ impatient then) and kill OpenOffice, they risk
to loose all open documents.

PLEASE reopen this bug!

Let's say "30 seconds for the initial connection"? AFAIK this is a value many
applications use because 30 seconds are clearly enough time to establish a
connection even on slow lines. Also a timeout of 30 seconds for stalled
connections (no single packet in this time) would be a good value.

Or just add a cancel button to stop loading external images.
