Hi,
Excel 4 is an quite old file format and therefore we will not develop an export
filter for it. Also using such an old format has a lot of other inconveniences.
So best would be to convert your old files from Excel 4 to Excel 97 and your
problems are solved.
The file altered by OOo has to be saved before it can be attached to a Mail
because the Mail Application isn't integrated into OOo and therefore needs a
saved document even if it is saved only temporarily. As there is no export
filter for Excel 4 this can't be done and so this Issue is invalid and will be
closed as such.
Comparing Excel and OOo in this case is not a valid option as Excel is able to
save files into it's old format and Calc isn't.
