As per the email to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
The symptoms are Writer's CPU utilisation goes through the roof and
becomes unresponsive when pasting a large amount of text into a frame
that is configured as follows...
* The frame's width is set to "Automatic" (Frame properties dialog,
type tab, size fieldset).
* The frame's height is set to "AutoSize"
* The frame has more than one column (Frame properties dialog, columns
tab).
The defect is very reproducable...
1) Create a new writer document.
2) Insert a frame into the document (Insert menu > Frame...)
3) Check the "Automatic" and "AutoSize" checkboxes on the "type" tab.
4) Change to the column tab and set it to 2 columns.
4) Click OK.
5) Place the cursor in the frame and type "dt" and press F3 (this
inserts a whole lot of dummy text). Repeat by going to the end of the
text and typing " dt<F3>" again.
At this point Writer should lock up hard. I suspect its got something to
do with writer both trying to calculate how much text should be in each
column and by how much it needs to expand the frame (as autosize and
automatic are selected) -- hence some sort of race condition.
I am experiencing it on Windows XP, however others on the [email protected]
list have confirmed it for other operating systems.
