------- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Thu Apr 13 08:26:20 -0700 2006 ------- JL->KR: No we should not support symlinks. When a JRE is selected, then some properties are detected, such as vendor, runtime lib location, LD_LIBRARY_PATH. It is necessary to start Java for this. The obtained information are made persistent. The next time the office starts, javaldx uses these information to do Java-specific preparations, such as setting the LD_LIBRARY_PATH. When allowing links then we would have to check the everytime if the java is still the same. That would require javaldx to run Java everytime it starts. jl->pmladek: Are you saying that, in case that /usr/lib/jvm/jre point to a jre other JREs are not found. But if this path does not exist, that the other (same) JREs are found? This would indicate the the search algorithm stops in case that JRE is found at /usr/lib/jvm/jre which it should not. You said that SUN JREs are found nonetheless. So what JREs are not found (vendor, version, location)? --------------------------------------------------------------------- Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
