The Mail Merge wizard has an option to send e-mail as the "output" from
printing. The e-mails are sent using the SMTP settings in 'Tools -> Options ->
Open Office.org Writer -> Mail Merge E-mail'.

Using the functionality to send messages is not possible when you use your ISP
SMTP server. This produces an error message with the information that the e-
mail address you stated in the settings is not allowed or something like that.
The exact error message cannot be stated here (refer to issue 64436,
http://qa.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=64436), but it was shown the
first time I tried to use Mail Merger to send e-mails.

For a normal user like me, then I'd not be using a local SMTP server to send
the e-mail. I will be using the SMTP server my ISP is putting at my disposal.
Thus the authentication etc. should be made by him - and not built-in to the
core of the Mail Merge functionality. Alternative, it should be possible to
state a setting saying 'by-pass local security check'.

I understand the purpose, but to the use that a normal user will have (like
me - managing multiple sport clubs and ad-hoc e-mailing), then the current
implementation is not good enough. And the current state is that I have to
stick with MS Office to do the job for me.
