steps to reproduce:
-make a new spreadsheet
-click save and disable the 'automatic filename extension' option
-choose opendocument spreadsheet(.ods) file type from the drop down box
-save spreadsheet with ang .xls(Excel) extension -> filename.xls

result:
calc was actually able to save the spreadsheet as an Excel file. However, when
the file is opened in Microsoft Excel, it generates an error - "not recognizable
format"
