Currently the behaviour of the LayoutManager after "setVisible( false )" call is not defined strictly enough. I would expect that the LayoutManager and it's menues must not be visible until "setVisible( true )" is called. From other side it might be problematic from the LayoutManager internal implementation point of view as we have discussed ( the history of the calls must be handled somewhere ).
