------- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Wed Feb 16 08:53:11 -0800 2005 ------- To improve OpenOffices visual integration it's menu's should look more like those of most other modern applications. Because of OpenOffices way of showing active / enabled menu items the menu becomes awkwardly wide. I posted on the forum just to get some feedback on this: http://www.oooforum.org/forum/viewtopic.phtml?t=17087&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0 Selective quote: "In MS Office a checkmark is not used; instead the icon in front of the menu item is highlighted, showing that this item is 'active'. This is how OOo should also do it, not to clone the 'MS look&feel' but just to simplify the UI. Look at 'field shadings' in the VIEW menu: a check mark, an icon, the text and then a keyboard shurtcut... that is visual noise. The check marks must be from the days when there were no icons in menus?" Ofcourse some people like things the way they are, but I believe the most decisive factor here in favour of this change should be that it aids integration (despite it being a small, almost purely cosmetic change), without losing anything. Note that GNOME, KDE and Windows generally use the aforementioned method to indicate an active menu item. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
