Thanks for your comments and careful attention. You are stretching my technical
knowledge. I opened common.xcu with Writer - is it safe to edit it from there?
Yes, there is only one template path in common.xcu and it is as surmised it is
s:/...

But the problem remains as originally described. After File>Templates>Save I'm
selecting "My Templates" from a list of two before putting in the template
filename. The only other choice "config" is again (back on my main PC) where I
saved config info in the past ie it's not a default directory. So, OOo is using
the default directory to save templates.
Thus, under various versions of OOo across the 3 PCs on this network, all set to
the same single template path I'm getting either the 2.0.3 behaviour or the
2.0.2 behaviour and neither seems to be right.
