One odt file crashes, but subsequently Writer recovers TWO identical documents!

In the recovery wizard, I have observed two different behaviors:
(a) sometimes both the recovered documents are nameless.
(b) At other times, both files have names (in fact, they have the SAME name, but
one carries "odt" extension, and the other file is without any extension.)

One of the recovered documents has grayed out "save" button, while the other has
activated "save" button (meaning this file has the recovered changes).

But I cannot do anything unless I close the copy with the grayed out "Save"
button. (If I try to close the other document first, OOo asks me whether to save
it. If I select "yes", OOo reports "General input/output error" and does not let
me save the document. On the other hand, if I click on the Save" button first,
the OOo hangs (shows hourglass endlessly).

But the worst aspect of this problem is this:
I am able to edit both documents and save them both. This is dangerous because
changes in one of these documents will be overwritten but the changes in the
other.

On one specific occasionj, Writer crashed after I madesome small change (and
then tried to move ahead by using the mousewheel, which triggered the crash).
When the file was recovered, (a) it did not show the change I had just made, and
(b)the "Save" button was grayed, meaning there were no changes to be saved. This
means that the recovery dialog wwas not able to save the changes I had made!
