Do the fonts for the math editor change depending on architecture and
platform?
Windows and linux (debian + scientific linux + redhat), pentium II,
pentium III, pentium IV, pentium MMX AMD XP. Hell the PPC linux will
probably have the same problem too just like Solaris.

The standard setup is in my opinion wrong. And even if I change the type
so that this %nu vs v similarity is gone, who will tell me I will not
run into the same problem with another symbol when I've picked another
font?

I personally dislike the %nu symbol. As this is the special one it
should differ clearly from most standard v's. The base font chosen for
the math editor -whichever that could be, try wingdings if you like-
should just not have any symbols interfering with the standard
alphabetic font characters in the math editor.

Most of the characters in the font which is now chosen are quite nice to read so my suggestion would be to just alter a few and maybe rename the
font to "Times-NR-Math" or so if you like to stick to the standard
names.

------- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Mon Jun 26 06:52:22 -0700 2006 ------- What do you dislike - the 'ν' or the 'v'? I agree, these letters look rather similar with the standard fonts which are "Times Roman" for the "v" (variables) and an unknown one for the Greek letter symbols. You can change that, and so I believe we can only discuss whether other standard fonts should be selected for
base installation of OOo.

Pls. specify your OS and Platform!
