My drawing was created using a symbol originally created using ooo1.1 drawing objects and then saved in an ooo1.1 gallery. Later on I used the same gallery in ooo2 but ooo2 converts ooo1.1 gallery objects to metafiles. There was a bug that creates bad metafiles when importing ooo1.1 gallery objects into ooo2 which has now been fixed Is that it? So following on from this, if that is the case then why can't ooo2 use ooo1 galleries directly? In my gallery I had a dozen or so symbols complete with attachment points etc that I ended up having to redraw because the extra bits are lost in the metafiles, frustrating!
