Pressing <tab> at the end of a table inserts a new row.
Pro: It make it easy to create and fill a table with values. This behavior is
well know from other applications as well.
Con: Unexpected switching from "travel mode" inside a table to "change layout
mode" at the end of a table.
But even if a <tab> at the end of the table would not create a new row and
simply leave the table, this problem will stay: If you press the <tab> key again
in the paragraph which follows the table, you will insert a tabulator character
in this paragraph. This changes the layout as well.
