Same problem so in my opinion the bug still exists. No file associations for the user without admin rights and they can't be changed by the user. The permissions on the registry do not include the users' group. I can't even view the data in the registry for an odt file type (HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT) as a regular user. I edited the registry and added read permission to the file type and I can now modify them.
