------- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Wed Sep 20 11:44:49 -0700 2006 ------- I'm trying to build a picture of the intended audience for this brochure. My assumption is that it's someone who knows about the OpenOffice.org software, and is almost certainly a user. However, they don't know much (anything?) about open-source. They are not an existing open-source developer. So, the question we have to pose (and answer) is: why should I get involved in this OpenOffice.org community (benefits)? then: how can I get involved in this community (something for eveyone)? For example, the reader should realise they have got a lot of software for free - free because other people have worked on it for free. People join us because it's great fun and being part of a worldwide community this size is really something special. The most important thing they can do to help is to tell other people about it and give them copies - 40% of our users get started that way. The benefit: people thank you for what you've given them. Then we can go on to spell out other ways of getting involved, but spell out benefits, not features - e.g. if you can program, your code can end up on tens of millions of desktops - how cool is that? So throughout, think of benefits rather than features ...
