I'm a little curious, what was the purpose of:
for ( unsigned long nOld = u; ++u != nOld; )
Try 26^3 times to get that tempfile? ;)
2) No, not necessary, but it enhances the error to show what really fails,
before it showed that the write of targtet faild, but it didn't tell you
that it was a move from some source. So, not needed but it might show
more details if it fails again. (Or still fails on *NIX)
