Hi,
it has nothing to do with intuitive or not. The cellformat is a setting for
viewing entered values or function results. So these formattings are limited by
the output of a function. In your case you've used a function giving you a
string as as result. So a numberformat does not apply as a string could not be a
number even if it looks like a number. So using a text operation and expecting a
number as output is unlogical. So you have to make the string a value by using
the value function.
Closing again as invalid.
