------- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Fri Oct 27 11:24:09 -0700 2006 ------- Converting a Word Document to PDF will leave two handles to the file c:\Program Files\OpenOffice.org 2.0\program\resource\ooo680en-US.res open. Successive conversions will open more handles and the application will eventually crash or refuse new connections (when using the OOo Java API). Steps to reproduce: -Open OpenOffice Writer. -Start Process Explorer (http://www.sysinternals.com/Utilities/ProcessExplorer.html) and observe the number of file handles to the file ooo680en-US.res. There will be several. -Open a Word document -Click on the PDF export button -Close the Word document -Observe the number of file handles in Process Explorer. There will be 2 more handles to ooo680en-US.res. -repeat opening Word documents and doing conversions. The number of handles to ooo680en-US.res will increase. This is problematic when using OpenOffice in headless mode, using the OpenOffice API to perform conversions on various file types. The OpenOffice process will either produce corrupted documents or silently fail causing problems with the parent application. The only solution I've found so far is to periodically bring the OpenOffice process down. This problem is observable in OOo 2.0.2 on both Windows XP and Solaris, the other platforms/environments I use.
