2005 -------
distro: gentoo (OOo is built from source using gcc-3.4.3-2005011)
X: xorg-x11 6.8.2
DE: fvwm 2.5.12

all fvwm is doing is calling ooffice, which is a wrapper script, the last lines
of which are:

>##
>## That's it. Launch the beast (with the given args)
>##
>LANG=$LOCALE
>export LANG
>case `basename $0` in
>    oosetup) exec "$OOHOME/setup"
>    ;;
>    oopadmin) exec "$OOHOME/spadmin"
>    ;;
>    *) exec "$OOHOME/soffice" "$@"
>    ;;
>esac

minus the >s, of course. it's written by the gentoo people, and there's some
problem with a -
mindepth and -maxdepth flag in the fontpath, but that shouldn't cause it to
fail.

i did try to re-install OOo, to no avail.
i download the OOo souce direct from you all, and just compile it myself. when
compiling, the
following flags are used:+curl -debug +gnome -hardened +java +kde +nptl +zlib.

i removed my .sversionrc file, and my .openoffice/1.1.4/ directory, which also
didn't help.

want me to strace something?

thanks,

ee
PS- sorry for my bad spelling. my version of Opera displays form fields with a
dark blue background,
making black text almost unreadable. so i miss a lot of errors.
