My MacIntel running Mac OS X 10.4.8 uses the F4 key to adjust the speaker
volume. Likewise for Cntrl (or CMD) + F4. However, I was able to reproduce the
action you seen with the addition of the Function (Fn) key. I pressed in order
Cntrl, Fn, F4 and then the window closed. I don't know if this is a holdover
from UNIX. This key combination (Cntrl+F4) is not assignable from within the
program.
