@tml: Its a technical reason. VC 2005 Express includes runtime librarys with
manifest files and you wouldn't get rid of that. So you have to build OO with
manifest files and need the vcredist_x86 stuff to deploy it.
With the professional edition you are able to use runtime librarys without
manifest files (this isn't supported by Microsoft, but it should be possible to
handle as with VS 2003).

@npower:The copyright problem with the manifest file I see is, that you don't
own the copyright of a manifest file with "copyright by Microsoft" in it,  do 
you?
