When an index is made in MS Word 2003 and is then opened in OO 2.0.4 (Writer)
the complete layout and style is lost.

For example: We made an index in MS Word 2003 which had an allignment (left
border) at the center of the page (so every line was lined up from the center to
the right side). We also set that the text had to be black. When we opened this
file in OO 2.0.4 Writer, we got an index which was 'normal style', so no left
border in the middle, and all the text was in 'blue link'-style, and not in
black.

This is just an example but the index is often the culprit.

Thanks for looking into this matter.
