Phenomenon
Vertical alignment applied to a cell in a table of Word 2003 *Japanese*
is not properly reproduced by OpenOffice.org 2.1.0 rc2.
OpenOffice.org does not have such a problem with the same contents
prepared with Word 2003 *English*, though.
An illustration attached, Table_Cell_Alignments.pdf, might help you
understand this phenomenon. Sorry for inconvenience, it is in PDF.
Since Draw exports images into .png in somewhat inadequate quality
when the page size of document becomes huge, but exports them into
PDF in good quality regardless of the page size of document.
This phenomenon can be also observed with OpenOffice.org 2.0.4.
Reproduction (A)
1. Open a bugdoc, Table_Cell_Alignments_Word2003_Japanese.doc
2. Open a reference_doc, Table_Cell_Alignments_Word2003_English.doc
3. Compare them.
Reproduction (B)
1. Get Word 2003 *Japanese*,
not English one with Japanese language settings set by a special
application called "Microsoft Office 2003 Language Settings."
2. Create an empty document with Word.
3. Insert a table.
4. Fill a cell with a text.
5. Apply vertical alignment such as Center or Bottom to the cell.
6. Type an Enter key several times in another cell on the same row as
the step 5 to make room vertically.
7. Save the document to a .doc file.
8. Open it with OpenOffice.org.
9. Do the same steps with Word 2003 English.
