Thanks for the review Christian.

Most of the solenv changes are derived from cws aquavcl01. So I assume that they
do not intentionally break the X11 build. This needs to be verified, of course,
but as I only have one Powerbook laptop, and limited time, I'd rather not do it
myself. It's already quite a task to build newer milestones from scratch (to
keep the patches up-to-date).

Once these patches are in CWS, maybe the X11 -verification can be revisited. 

Anyone willing to include this changes to a CWS? I do not have the ssh keys etc.
for CWS access and while I'd like to have them, it might take long enough for
the patches to bitrot.
