------- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sun Dec 31 16:05:00 -0800
2006 -------
sorry, the attachment has to be smaller than 1 MB but that of mine is 23,6 MB,
so I have to send it by email to the assigned developer

I was discussing this issue with Mathias Bauer ([EMAIL PROTECTED]), and sent
a similar document (20 MB) to him. It was approx 3 months ago and since that no
one made and issue in issuezilla, so I am doing it now (I will probably need a
special exception for my 24 MB large .doc file :-)

I should also supply following information:
the bug is platform and disk format independent (under Windows 2000 pro SP 4 you
get the same result as under opensuse 10.2 final) (it does not matter if my disk
is ext3, vfat or NTFS)

Or should I supply the document split into 24 pieces?

Yes, first 5 pages, which are 1 MB could be enough to track the bug down, but
with this full sized document, the contrast between approach of OOo and
Microsoft office is clearly seen - OOo loads I do not know what into RAM and it
takes a lot of time and CPU performance, while Microsoft office opens the
document in a second time scale (approx. 2 seconds) and RAM consumption
increases hardly noticeably

As I am not allowed to attach the .doc file, I attach a screenshot documenting
the extreme hardware requirements.
