I'm understanding this better .. the file has 'split window' on and it is set to
horizontally split and the split line is above the first row. The heavy black
line you see when you first open this file is actually the split line but you
can't drag it or do anything with it .. probably because it's not intended to
appear!

This is causing the weird distortions along the column titles. If I turn off
split window the problem goes away.

When I re-create a horizontal split and try to drag the split line back up to
above the first row, the split line disappears which is probably the intended
behaviour (and the split line check mark goes off).

When I try this on a WINDOWS XP oo2.0 I see the same thing .. the heavy
horizontal line (split line) but on this laptop there does not seem to be any
lost pixels below the horizontal (heavy) line to cause any artifacts.

I've also noticed the problem on a 3rd computer .. linux .. oo2.0 and the
distortions exist but not as bad .. a lower resolution LCD screen .. seems there
is some kind of trade-off in horizontal line width and font size on the column
titles which accents the problem in some cases.

Now that I understand the issue of course its easy to fix if I see it again but
I'm sure it would be puzzling to people who see it for the first time and don't
understand what is going on!
