Yes, I've been doing this on a 64 bit machine. But I don't have a 64 bit Java.
The StarOffice installer doesn't support 64 Java. That's why it doesn't start.
Nevertheless the setup finds a Java environment (java -version) and tries to use
it. This fails. In case thhere is no Java on the machine the setup has a small
Java environment integrated so that the installation will proceed. But in this
case aJava has been found but the setup can't tell that this Java can't be used.
"So what is the sense that it provides to install java vm (if it works)?" Why
installing StarOffice or OOo when MS Office works? The Sun JRE is the tested
Java for StarOffice.
You can find the StarOffice version information when opening 'Help - Information
about StarOffice'. In this upcomming dialog you have to press 'Control + S + D +
T' and the dialog starts scolling and shows you the version and build id.
We can't change the behaviour of the StarOffice installer for 64 bit Java so I
set this issue to 'wontfix' and close it. Thanks for your help.
