------- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Mon Jan 22 05:52:12 -0800 2007 ------- Converting from ACCESS to BASE - Just installed OOo 2.1 Well versed in ACCESS Problem: Trying to start a new database with new Tables. Keep getting error "The Connection to the Data Source (xxxxxx) could not be Established" After File > New Database A) I Choose 'Create New Database > Yes, Register the DataBase > Open the DataBase for Editing & Create Tables using the Table Wizard. B) Base then opens the database Window with the 'Forms' section Active, at the bottom it shows 'Embedded Database' & 'HSQL Data Engine' C) When I then choose the 'Tables' icon, I get the above error message --"The Connection to the Data Source (XXXXX) could not be Established" A new 'New Database.odb' file (size 2Kb) is established in my folder on the hard disk, but is not being accessed. Under Tools > Options > Base > Connections -- I have checked the box for Connection Pooling enabled Based on Issue #59735 (seems like same problem) - Tools > Options > OpenOffice.org > Java > selects 2 items >> Java2 Runtime Environment Edition V1.3.1 & V1.3.1_02 (makes no difference which is selected) D) I CAN connect to ACCESS .MDB databases using the ADO - JET drivers -- but in read-only mode only. Note: Have also run OOo 2.0 Install > Repair AND Install > Modify (Bse only). Problem still not fixed.
