2007 -------
I used Insert>Movie & Sound to insert an AVI format video in a slide in an
Impress presentation.

1) The frame where the video plays is black. In Presentations the video frame
shows the first frame of the video as a static image.

2) If the slide containing the video is selected and the Slide Show button is
clicked (or F5 pressed) the video plays correctly.

3) If the slide show is started from the beginning (or any other slide before
the one containing the video) when the video slide is reached the video screen
stays black while the soundtrack plays.

I tried this with different AVI files as well as MPEG format videos with the
same result. Eventually I had to give up and revert to using MS Presentations to
be able to run the show as required.
