2007 -------
The following attached file contains enough headings to reproduce the same
problem for 2 column page 2 column Table of Contents. 

The page is already paritioned into two columns. Insert the table of contents
with 2 columns, an empty column will be visible. Now if you type in any
character before the first heading, "1", the empty column will disappear. When
you save the file with the empty column and reopen it, the TOC will be half
filled and a red arrow indicating another column for TOC will be visible.

This bug was reproduced on OO v.2.0.4 under Ubuntu Edgy 6.10 - kernel version
2.6.17-10-generic.
