I am all for adding a "style only" toolbar as alternative to the default
formatting one. I think that the use of styles should be heavilly encouraged as
it offers much better results with much less work.
Adding an option to alter the behavior of the usual formatting buttons is
probably _not_ a good idea, OOo already has plenty of options (way too many for
me, as a gnome fanboy...).
Such a toolbar should contain dropdown menus to select paragraph and character
styles as it has been previously said. I think that having "create new style" as
last item would improve a lot its efficiency: this item should popup the style
creation dialog (which could go with a UI cleanup AMHA).
Styles are great, lets make OOo rock in this area :)
