I have tested this in 2.1 and a current version m206 and it works in both cases.
As soon as you save a file the version entry under File... gets activated and
you can save versions. This works in Calc,too. If you still have problems to
work with this please add a detailed description of your steps how to reproduce
this. Thanks in advance.
