I suggest recreating user profile.
For this you need to close OpenOffice (including QuicStarter - icon next to
your clock), rename "OpenOffice.org2" folder in "\Documents and
Settings\ksp\Application Data\" and restart Office.
Also try upgrading to version 2.2.

Also make sure that when it crashes you allow OpenOffice tool (not
Microsoft's) to report troubleshooting data.
