I never have problems to start the standby mode. Now and then, my system can't go to hybernate (full sleep) due to 'lack of system resources'. Only 1 Gig, far too little of course ;-) Anyway, I'll keep an eye on that problem, see if it has anything to do with running programms. Maybe your problem is windows'98 related? Ever heard of someone else with such a problem?
