if i understand you right, then ..
.. 'optimizing' means fitting to the ui, so you can use the graphical frontend
(query designer) - run sql directly execute the query without that possibility -
the reason to work this way is the big amount of databases and drivers and their
different sql query handling on one hand and the possibility to easy create
queries inside oo with ui for lower experienced user
