------- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sat May 5 15:43:46 +0000 2007 ------- A MAJOR confusing condition in Base and broken functionality... The three are ALL related bugs, do not separate them. (1)Missing feature control (2)Incorrect help file instructions (3)Ambiguous dialog name. (1) Missing feature control In base, 2.2, (at least with MySql and likely others), a user creates a table manually, without the wizard, there is no option to alter the primary key as "auto-incrementing", or "Auto-Value" type. (2)Incorrect help file instructions Help file - search by "find" for "auto value" and see "Advanced Properties" which instructs the user... To Access this command choose Edit - Database - Properties tab, This will list two options (A) Generated Values (the problem entry) When a user follows this instruction, the dialog "Database Properties" opens on the "Advanced Properties" tab, but there is no setting for managing "auto-value" on this dialog, nor does it appear like there should be. (3)Ambiguous dialog name. When a user in Base opens Edit - Database the option of "Advanced Settings" is provided in the drop down. The dialog which opens is actually named "Advanced Properties" NOT advanced "Settings". This appears to be where the above value of auto-incrementing or auto-value was intended to be placed and I would suggest the code author became confused between the dialog box names, incorrect dialog naming, and ambiguous naming and therefore left the auto-value feature out since it's place of entry could not be found. Corrective action... MySql and others... Either provide for auto-value attribute in manual table creation (preferred) and update the help file to include this provision, removing the errant help entry OR Correct the database dialogs to behave as the current help file suggests, (which in my experience is rather non-typical presently and should rather favor the above approach. AND Correct the amgiguous dialog naming, Correct the "Advanced Properties" dialog to allow auto-entry, update the help files to read correctly. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
