The file in the crashdata directory that triggers opo up of crash reporter
dialog is crashdat.lck. But when clicking on "Cancel" the file is deleted.
Without explaining the details of how crash reporting works and without beeing
able to reproduce it there's one scenario that could cause the bug - but sorry
not fixable as it is a problem of Windows 9x/ME.
When OOo crashes crashrep.exe is executed to generate a callstack. Sometimes on
Win9x/ME the Windows API call does not work and hangs and even prevents Task
Manager or Process Explorer to kill the process. This is not a bug of OOo but of
Windows ME. ME still is some kind of DOS when executing kernel functions.
When OOo is closed this won't automatically terminate crashrep.exe as child
processes are not terminated with the parent process as on UNIX systems.
You restarted OOo with a still running crashrep.exe which locks the file
crashdata.lck so OOo can't delete it on restart. If no crashrep.exe is running
and you start OOo and press "Cancel" in the pop up dialog crashdat.lck is always
deleted.
