Ah sorry, how could I have overlooked the steps to reproduce(!?!?!)

Anyway here is exactly how my experience went:

1. Start Openoffice Base from Start menu
2. When presented with Database Wizard choose "Connect to Existing Database"
Choose ODBC from the drop down box and click [Next].
3. From here I chose a datasource created for an M$SQL database on
a Windows 2000 Server which is part of an Active Directory
   controlled network domain.
4. Created test.odb in "My Documents" folder.
5. Clicked on Tables icon and received error "login failed for user '(null)'..."
   clicked OK
6. Menu item Edit/Database/Connection Type, ODBC, filled in username
   and password required, [finish].
7. Click on Tables icon, provided password.
8. Browsed tables, and opened one for viewing.
9. Closed table
10. Closed Openoffice Base (application actually closed)
11. Tried to start Openoffice Base and received msg requesting whether
I wanted to attempt to recover "test" database(???). [yes].
12. Application didn't start.
13. Double click on "test.odb" in My Documents, application doesn't start...
