------- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Thu May 31 15:43:53 +0000 2007 ------- We've been running OO 2.0 on FreeBSD diskless clients for a while now. It's been a buggy experience, with regular crashes and lots of visits to document recovery dialog boxes. All this time I've attributed this to running across NFS, but it seems that this isn't the case. While working on upgrading our setup to OO 2.2 the crashes got worse. Opening very simple documents causes a crash. Not 100% of the time, but it never takes more than a couple of documents opening and closing to see a crash. No more than 5 minutes of doing this and I can force OO into a document recovery nightmare. After many hours of trying different things I believe I now know what all is going on. For this diskless client setup to work I have all my user authentication going across pam_ldap and nss_ldap. When I revert back to file based authentication OO is as stable as a local installation. Something OO is doing with checking authentication is intermittently causing it to crash when LDAP is involved. This has probably been the case for a long time now, but it's only as of 2.2 that it's happening often enough that I was able to track this down. Unfortunately that also means I can't deploy 2.2 until there's some resolution to this. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
