There can be no defence that it cannot be done, as it is being done for queries. A view is essentially the same animal as a query. It is defined by an a SQL statement that can be represented by a Design view in just the same way. MS Access does just that and allows you to change views in Design view or by editing its underlying SQL statement. This problem should have been fixed long ago.
