I have let it sit for 10 minutes with 2.2.1m18 on WinXP - no crash/hung.
This might very well be profile-specific.

please see if recreating profile will eliminate the problem. For that you need
to close OO (incl Quickstarter), rename USER folder in
x:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Application Data\OpenOffice.org2 and
restart Office. If that cures the problem please zip original USER folder and
attach it to this issue.
