fst,
I hope I haven't done anything politically correct by reopening this issue--I
just don't feel your answer
addressed all the implications of this problem.
So let me be specific.
I work with a LOT of CSV files. These CSV files deal with numbers that have to
be formatted a certain
way for upload to a database.
I use OO.o to create these CSV files and am very happy with the CSV options it
has. I can change all my
cells with a value of say 2.0 to be saved as "2.0". The quotation marks around
them mean "this is a
string."
The problem is that when I reopen the CSV file that was created by OO.o, the
"2.0"s get changed to 2.
Every time I open up the CSV files to do work, I have to reformat the columns
that ALREADY HAVE THE
DATA.
Therefore, a user-defined template would not help me in this case. Unless there
is a way to change the
"general" format behavior by default, I can't get around this problem.
This isn't an issue about CSV, it's about the General formatting. I didn't mean
to submit this as a bug,
but rather an enhancement request, and it appears that Issue tracker won't let
me change the
classification of this issue.
