Thanks for the response, but I don't agree with the issue being closed. I
understand about table tags, which is why I tried copying the start and finish
of the table (which works). But I don't understand why Writer can't check for
the <tr><td> etc tags, which is presumably how Calc does it, and render a table
if they are found. Wouldn't it be nice for Writer to do something else better
than Word!
This is a real world problem when an unsophisticated user needs to copy and
paste the central part of a large web table. It's intuitive to expect it to
create a table in Writer. I don't expect her to understand about html tags and I
don't see why it should be necessary for her to need to copy past the start or
finish of the table to get just the small bits she needs.
Have reopened, but will listen carefully to your response.
