I investigated with a test case of my own. * I created a drawing with dimension lines and pasted it into writer. * I saved the document and reopened it: the dimension lines were broken as expected. * I copied the broken drawing into the clipboard and pasted it into a new generated drawing document: the dimension lines were not broken anymore !!!
