I agree, from a user experience view, the settings doesn't make sense any more
(for an end-user). Why bothering the majority of users with a setting hardly
ever used *every time* when they use this dialog? Plus, as Michael described, it
is rather dangerous, as unintended deactivation of the feature leads to results
that render many file based tools (e.g. the Windows desktop ;-) ) useless.

However, it shouldn't be fixed on gnome only, but across all supported
platforms, and in our native file picker as well. That's why I change OS: to
all.

To be very clear: the scope of this issue is just to hide or remove the option
"Automatic file name extension" from the file save dialog. This is not about
changing the way how OOo actually assigns a file name extension (if
automatic=on).

For API stability or configuration compatibility reasons, we may need to decide
to keep the configuration setting, but still, the UI shall be removed.

Andreas, thanks for taking over! If this can't be resolved for 2.3, please
re-target appropriately.
