Strangely, I encounter a severe typographical problem when exporting as PDF a

document that contains the default serif font Thorndale AMT.

To be exact, there occurs very bad kerning in the regular and bold-italics

typefaces. In the regular typeface, the 'o' and 'n' are much too close, and

the same holds for 't' and 'i' in the bold-italics typeface.

In Writer itself, there does not seem to be a problem. But after exporting to

PDF the problem is very apparent.

It does not even matter whether I enable pairkerning or not.

I wonder whatever can be the matter. Surely the font itself cannot be at

fault? I have been using it for quite a lot of text in the past and I never

had any problem with it. Then, after updating to OOo 2.2.0, I saw for the

first time an instance of bad kerning with Thorndale exported as PDF, in a

long text. I attributed this to some miscalculation and I did not pay much

attention to it because it was a single instance in a long text only.

I do use SUSE Linux 10.0 and I have set
LD_PRELOAD="$sd_inst/program/filter/libfreetype.so.6" in the soffice script in
order to make pairkerning work as per issue # 61023.

Of course, I will try to upload the corresponding ODF and PDF files.
