On further investigation, I see that it's not possible to create a style with that characteristic. The template on which the example is based was created when I first used Writer a couple of years ago and hasn't been touched since. All I did was save the default template with some very minor changes and gave it a name and we now use that as our default template. All my other templates seem to be OK - have only just noticed this.
